edits and design

Hi! Just a quick update... I have received the final manuscript to check through and make my own edits. This will be the last time I am able to check it and make changes before it goes to a nation wide audience! I have until the 15th of July to do these edits, then I send it in and the editing phase is over.

A few days ago I talked with the graphic designer who will design the cover. We talked about images and colors. He asked about things that I might want to specifically show or use to evoke feelings in prospective readers. It was really pretty interesting. I gave him a few ideas and he said he'd see what he can do. He will come up with a few designs and send them to me by the end of the month. I will then have about four days to check through them, decide and approve the cover design. After that, we go to page layout and design. This seems to be the more fun and less technical part of the process.

The layout design is the last phase of production before the book is put together and I start working with the marketing team. So, by my calculations, it will be ready for sale by October and the official release date will be in January! This is a few months earlier than I thought, so I'm excited!

I'll post more when I get the cover design options. I'm excited to see what the designer comes up with!
